The new music festival will see 50 acts perform at 12 North Tyneside venues in May

A range of venues across North Tyneside will combine to host a new music festival this summer which is described as the North East Coastal Music Trail.

A Stone’s Throw festival will bring together 50 bands and 12 venues on May 28 with a lineup including, in another first, singer-songwriter Sam Tompkins as his first headliner.

The one-day-only event will take place in North Shields and Tynemouth.

Among the names on the bill will be singer-songwriter Lauran Hibberd, rapper Berwyn, indie rock band Wych Elm, singers Rudie Edwards and Tamzene and local quintet Jango Flash.

Organizers say Go North East will provide an open-top bus service, so a trip around the venue will take just seven minutes round trip.

Tickets go on sale Friday for the festival whose lineup will also include Bandit, Feva, Luke Royalty, George O’Hanlon and Imogen, with more acts yet to be announced.

On the day of the event, festival-goers will then exchange their tickets for a bracelet which will allow them access to all the places.

Following Tuesday’s festival announcement, Island-signed Sam Tompkins tweeted, “I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m headlining my very first festival” and he said he was looking forward to performing at A Stone’s Throw, adding, “So exciting”.

Tickets for the festival, priced at £33.34, will go on sale online here February 4 at 10 a.m.
