Port Lavaca hosts its annual Festival of Lights Parade
Parade winners will be announced Saturday, December 4 at Merry on Maine in Port Lavaca
PORT LAVACA, Texas – Port Lavaca held its annual Festival of Lights Parade on Friday evening, December 3. The parade included over 30 different floats. Some were adorned with speakers, Christmas lights, streamers and one even had a live band in the back of its trailer.
The parade kicked off at 6:30 p.m. with Santa lighting the Christmas tree at the back of Bayfront Peninsula Park. Once the parade started, the floats headed for the Sandcrab Stadium in Port Lavaca.
Calhoun High School also had its marching band and cheerleading team in the parade. Two members of the cheerleading leader say the annual event brings the community together.
“I feel like it brings our community together and we can all have fun and hang out with family and friends. It means a lot to me because we can come together as a team to organize a parade for little kids and their families,” say Calhoun High School cheerleaders Angelina Fredericksen and Anna Williams.
On Saturday, December 4, the City of Port Lavaca will announce the parade winners at Merry on Main, a holiday community shopping event that will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Port Lavaca. For more information on the Merry on Main, click here.
