organizers postpone the first Lompoc music festival | Local News

The inauguration Lompoc Music Festival has been postponed, but those who purchased tickets apparently won’t be refunded.

Organizers had advertised the event as taking place at Ryon Memorial Park in Lompoc on Saturday and had sold tickets for the festival with the theme “Where music is good for the soul”.

“Lompoc’s first-ever music festival is the much-needed revival of live concerts, art, culture and exciting experiences for individuals, friends and families. The festival will showcase the best of rugged heritage from the Central Coast, exceptional wines and delicious cross-cultural cuisines – offering something for everyone,” its website said.

The website has identified “veteran veteran concept promoter Chuck Dennis Productions” and community member Darrell Tullis as the organizers of the event to showcase Latin jazz, light rock, funk and reggae music that will “blow out your spirit. , your body and your soul”.

In addition to selling tickets for $40 for lawn seats or $80 for table seats, promoters advertised VIP cabana seats for $1,000.

“Yes it’s true! We regret to announce that due to unforeseen circumstances, the first Lompoc Music Festival has been POSTPONED,” according to a Lompoc Music Festival post on Facebook. “Ticket holders have been contacted directly and advised of plans to honor ALL tickets for the new festival date. We thank you for your continued support and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that may arise as a result of the postponement of this event. »

Ticket sales have been ongoing since at least April, but reports of the postponement of the event began circulating on Wednesday as potential attendees were upset that ticket purchases were deemed non-refundable.

Those who purchased tickets were reportedly told that the postponement of the event had occurred “due to unavoidable circumstances and certain security/safety requirements which could not be met at this time”.

Organizers said they had already started planning an event in March.

“The Lompoc Music Festival scheduled for next weekend and recently postponed by the organizers had obtained the necessary permissions and approvals from the City of Lompoc move forward,” city leaders said in a written statement. “The city has been looking forward to this inaugural event with the community and is disappointed to learn of the postponement. We look forward to supporting the Lompoc Music Festival when a new date is scheduled.

Organizers of the Lompoc Music Festival did not respond to an email seeking comment on Thursday.
