Mangaluru: Five-day ‘Chendu’ event of annual Polali temple festival ends

Mangaluru, April 12: ‘Chendu’, one of the unique features of the month-long temple of Goddess Rajarajeshwari, the annual Polali festivities, is played for five days. The last Chendu of this year was played in Polali on Monday April 11th.
The festivities of this temple continue for a month. The ‘Chendu’ started on April 7th. After the special pooja has been performed to the deity. The temple priests, administrators and devotees with the band music, ‘Kombu’ threw the ‘Chendu’ on the ground. Villagers from Ammunje and Malali took part in the game.
Initially, young people played the game, followed by older people from these villages who took part in the game. Hundreds of people watched the game. When the game started, a youngster was the center of attention as he carried his elderly parent to safety. Maharathosava will take place on Tuesday, April 12.
The Rajarajeshwari Goddess Temple at Polali is one of the ancient and great temples on the Karnataka coast, which continues to protect and project the rich cultural heritage of the region.
