26th Annual Festival Bringing Dance Professionals to the Black Hills

RAPID CITY, SD (KOTA) – This will make you want to twist and scream; a weekend of dance workshops, dance performances and social dancing is brewing with the 26th annual Black Hills Dance Festival.

“We’re trying out a new series of progressive workshops for Lindy Hop,” said Debbie Ellerton, director of the Black Hills Dance Festival. “Our instructors, Jacob & Bridget from Minnesota will be in Rapid City teaching 3 hours of Lindy Hop to help new students elevate their swing abilities. We want to encourage all ages but especially students.

“Here we have world champions from Louisville Kentucky (Brian B. and Ms. Megan) from the West Coast Swing Online YouTube channel to teach Intermediate West Coast Swing, Rumba, Country 2-step, East Coast Swing, the Polka and the Night Club Two-Stage. They will be available to do private lessons while in Rapid City,” said Niki Hughes, Festival Promotions. “Tim Perez is a line and couples dance instructor from arizona. He competed in the highest divisions and won numerous awards. He will teach workshops in line dancing, 2-step country, 2-step night club, waltz and West Coast Swing.

“We also have open dances in the evenings with music from our favorite DJ – Machelle Holloway from Casper, WY,” Ellerton continued. “She is our dance DJ and will be hosting many line dance workshops throughout the weekend.”
