18th Annual Festival of Wreaths Offers Crowder College Scholarship Funds
NEOSHO, Mo. – Crowder College Foundation 18and The annual Wreath Festival takes place on Tuesday, November 10and. The event begins at 4:30 p.m. with a silent auction at the Longwell Museum located inside the Elsie Plaster Community Center on the Neosho campus. A live auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Last year’s event raised $100,000 for scholarships and program support.
Festival of Wreaths began as a live auction of 30-40 holiday wreaths and garlands. Now in his 18and year, the event evolved into an electronically integrated silent auction of 400-500 items as well as a live auction of 30-40 items. While holiday wreaths and decor will always be a mainstay of the Festival of Wreaths, the merchandise up for auction at the event includes everything from gift baskets and clothing to travel, electronics and household items. . Customers will see items ranging in value from $10 to several thousand dollars and everything in between.
“This year, as we continue to navigate the bumpy terrain of COVID-19, student needs are greater than ever,” said Haley Reardon, Associate Director of Resource Development and Alumni Relations. “Many of our students work full-time or part-time and were among the first to be furloughed last spring.”
Changes will be implemented this year due to the pandemic, including in-person and online auctions on silent auction items as in previous years. Guests are encouraged to pre-register online: bidpal.net/fow or text FOW to 243725. All staff, volunteers and guests will wear face coverings. Masks will be provided if needed. Hors d’oeuvres will be prepared by Great Western Dining staff and seating in the auditorium will be physically distanced unless you are seated with family or friends.
Check-out can be done via mobile device without queuing and arrangements can be made to pick up items between 9am and 4pm, November 11-13. Home or office delivery of goods can also be arranged.
Raffle tickets for “Best of Live” are on sale now and will be drawn on Monday, November 9. Only 200 tickets are sold for $100 each, with the winner choosing any item from the live auction. All live auction items are valued at a minimum of $300. Another raffle offers the winner the choice of one of three items: Apple Watch Series 5 with GPS, Signature Escape Spa Set from Oasis Salon & Day Spa or Pit Boss Pellet Grill. These tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20.
Some of the items in this year’s auction include a private display at Neosho’s B&B Theater, a decorative handcrafted copper compass, a side of grain-fed processed beef, a queen mattress and adjustable base, and a holiday In the Caribbean !
